Major: Biological Sciences
Minor: Health Administration
How did you decide on your major?
I have always been fascinated about how living systems work and how the body functions. The Biological Sciences major seemed like the perfect fit, and it was!
What is it about your chosen field (and the department) that appeals to you?
The biological sciences major gives students the opportunity to learn about so many different topics within the field of biology and that really appeals to me. Because of the diverse categories of electives, I feel like my biology degree will give me a super well-rounded education within the field.
Do you have favorite class/professor within your major?
My favorite class so far was Human Parasitology which discussed different types of parasites and how they interact with humans.
What are your favorite academic experiences outside of your major?
The Rutgers core requirements gave me the opportunity to experience so many different types of classes outside of my major. My favorite one of these classes was called Introduction to Health and Medical Literature.
What are your other Rutgers activities?
Outside of class, I like to keep busy. I am a General Biology Supplemental Instructor and tutor students as well. Having a community is super important to me which led me to become one of the social event chairs at the Rutgers Hillel. I took the Basic Scuba course at Rutgers and now diving is one of my favorite things to do! I love to play basketball at the gyms on campus and I am training for a marathon in April. Lastly, I have been an EMT for almost 5 years and love volunteering for my hometown’s 911 service.
What are your plans following graduation?
After graduation, I plan on attending medical school and would love to become a Pediatric Surgeon one day.
