Major: Biological Sciences
Minor: Psychology
How did you decide on your major?
I was interested in Biology since high school so I knew I would major in the sciences. Rutgers offers many science majors (Genetics, CBN, MBB, Exercise Science, etc.) but the Biological Sciences major allows you to take electives from all of these departments. I chose this major because it allows to me to explore different areas of science and gives me flexibility in choosing classes that interest me the most.
What is it about your chosen field (and the department) that appeals to you?
Biological Sciences appeals to me because there is a wide range of classes to choose from. Many classes also have labs that go along with the class, which makes learning more interactive. I am particularly interested in the classes that are related to the human body, such as Anatomy and Physiology.
Do you have favorite class/professor within your major?
Extended General Physics with Professor Brahmia
What are your favorite academic experiences outside of your major?
Going on a Medical, Dental, and Public Health Brigade to Honduras was one of my favorite experiences. This experience expanded my knowledge of healthcare in other areas of the world and informed me of the challenges people face in other countries. Going to Honduras was a learning experience both culturally and professionally. I learned about the people and their way of living while also working alongside doctors and dentists during the brigade.
What are your other Rutgers activities?
Research Assistant for RWJMS Department of Pathology, Honors Program Peer Mentor/Ambassador, Alpha Epsilon Delta, St. Peters University Hospital Volunteer
What are your plans following graduation?
I would like to pursue a career in healthcare.
