Program/Course of Study:

Florence University of the Arts

What inspired you to study abroad?

I wanted to study abroad to learn about and appreciate another culture! I, fortunately, had free time in the spring of my junior year after pursuing the Rutgers B.A./M.D. program, so I really wanted to take advantage of it.

What was your favorite experience abroad?Charvi Shah

My favorite part of studying abroad was making friends and traveling on the weekends! I got to know so many people from Rutgers I likely wouldn't have met otherwise. We planned weekend trips to countries like Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, and The Netherlands and got to appreciate each country's culture.

How did your experience abroad add to your academic journey at Rutgers?

The classes I took abroad were not in STEM, so having the freedom to take creative classes was a great opportunity. I learned a lot about topics like gardening therapy, photography, and oil painting that I can continue to pursue here.

What advice would you offer to DLS students who are interested in studying abroad?

Studying abroad is a really great and unique experience! It's an opportunity to spend an extended amount of time abroad, where you learn so much from different people and cultures. If you have any specific questions or want to learn more, I'm more than happy to answer any questions.
