Major: Biological Sciences

How did you decide on your major?

I decided on the biological sciences major when I realized that I enjoyed so many of my science classes in a variety of concentrations such as animal science and genetics. The biological sciences major allowed me to explore all of those classes in one major.

What is it about your chosen field (and the department) that appeals to you?

The best part of the Biological Sciences major is the variety of electives. There are hundreds of possible options to choose from!

Do you have favorite class/professor within your major?

My favorite class was Organic Chemistry 2 with Professor Sethi during the summer session. Although the material was definitely challenging, the class was engaging and rewarding, especially with a smaller class size. Prof. Sethi’s humor and praise made it impossible to not enjoy the class.

What are your favorite academic experiences outside of your major?

My favorite academic experience outside my major was getting involved in research. I joined a lab my junior year and was able to obtain new skills in bioinformatics such as visualizing protein structures and learning how to code!

What are your other Rutgers activities?

At Rutgers, I’ve joined Ashley Lauren Foundation (ALF) to help raise awareness for pediatric cancer, in addition to Habitat for Humanity. Through these experiences, I’ve learned valuable skills and have met many new people along the way.

What are your plans following graduation?

After graduation, I plan to pursue a masters and then apply to medical school.
