• Graduation Year: 2019

Julia Hendricks

Major: Biological Sciences

How did you decide on your major?

I decided on Biological Sciences because I knew I loved science and you get to take a variety of science courses across the life science department. I really enjoy having so many options.

What is it about your chosen field (and the department) that appeals to you?

I’ve always been interested in how the body works. I have really learned a lot about that in detail from the chemical and cellular levels all the way through the body systems and their interactions. It’s really cool to be able to understand how and why the body is the way it is.

Do you have favorite class/professor within your major?

I really enjoyed Fundamentals of Cell and Developmental Biology with Dr. Carr-Schmid. I also really liked Systems Physiology.

What are your favorite academic experiences outside of your major?

I took a class called Art and Medicine which took a look at the intersection between science and the humanities. It was a really unique and interesting class.

What are your other Rutgers activities?

I am on the Rutgers Women’s Rowing team which is a varsity sport. I am also involved with NADI which is a great club that helps you to gain clinical patient care experience.

What are your plans following graduation?

I am applying to medical school so after graduation I will hopefully be starting that!
