01:694:281/282; 381/382, 481/482; 489/490 MBB INDEPENDENT RESEARCH COURSES

These courses are for MBB majors or prospective majors who are conducting independent research projects in a laboratory at Rutgers - New Brunswick.  Students should expect to conduct at least 4-5 hrs of research in the laboratory each week for each credit of research (e.g. Students who take take 3 credits should be in lab 12-15 hrs/week).  A written report (2 double-spaced pages per credit) on their research efforts and results is due at the end of the semester.

Note: Registration in MBB research courses is by Special Permission only.

To enroll, students must first find a research advisor to work with and then fill out a Special Permission Form for Undergraduate Research.  After their research advisor has signed the form, they should then meet with the MBB academic Undergraduate Director, Andrew Vershon to go over their progress in the major, sign the form, and will provide a SPN to register for the course.  Registration for research courses should be done during the normal registration periods in the previous semester. Those students who found a research laboratory after the registration period may register during the Add/Drop period at the beginning of the semester but they must meet the Undergraduate Director, Andrew Vershon.  Students who have not registered as MBB majors should meet with the MBB Undergraduate Director to review their academic progress and obtain permission to enroll in a MBB research course.

A minimum GPA of 2.8 or better is required for registration in all research courses.
