Prerequisites
Fundamentals of Neurobiology (146:245) and Fundamentals of Cell Biology (146:270), plus at least 1 Advanced course (Advanced Neurobiology I 01:146:445, Advanced Neurobiology II 01:146:447, Advanced Cell Bio 01:146:470 or Advanced Developmental Biology 01:146:472) and 1 hands-on research course (Research in CBN 01:146:307-308 or 1:146:406-407, Advanced Neurobiology Lab 01:146:448, Advanced Cell Bio Lab 01:146:471, 1 semester of Independent study 01:146:201-202 or Honors Research 01:146:408-409).
Course Description
The course will be taught by three CBN faculty members, each responsible for teaching a module on a topic of choice. Each module consists of a mixture of lectures by the teaching faculty and student presentation/discussion of assigned primary research articles. Each student will also be required to write a brief critical review of the assigned research papers for each module. Topics include neurogenomics to assess CNS development and disease, sensory signaling, and quality control mechanisms in neurons and glia cells underlying nervous system function and dysfunction.

Grading Policy
The final grade in this course will be based upon three student presentatiosn (45%), class participation (10%), and three written papers (45% of the grade).
