01:694:301 Introductory Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

This course is intended for Life Science majors or those with a strong background in the Biological Sciences.

This course may be used to fulfill the elective requirements of the Biological Sciences major.

Molecular Biology & Biochemistry majors should take 694:407 instead of 694:301.


Offered:  Fall (preference given to Pharmacy students), Spring, Summer

Credits:  3

Prerequisites:  Organic Chemistry 01:160:209 or 01:160:307 or  01:160:315

Course Description:  Chemistry and metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and other biologically important compounds.

1. Students should demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge that is needed to begin biomedical research and that is required for post-graduate exams and studies.

Exams, Assignments, and Grading Policy:  3 Hourly exams and a non-cumulative final exam
