This course is intended for Life Science majors or those with a strong background in the Biological Sciences.

This course may be used to fulfill the elective and laboratory requirements of the Biological Sciences major.

Prerequisite: 01:119:117 or 01:119:102  Pre- or Corequisite: Human Parasitology 01:146:328

Course Description 

Human Parasitology Lab covers the biology, morphology, pathogenesis, and treatment of major human parasite diseases.

Topics include:

  • Ameba Flagellates and Ciliates
  • Trypanosomes and Leishmania
  • Coccidia and Toxoplasma
  • Malaria
  • Adult Trematodes
  • Larval Trematodes
  • Adult Cestodes and Acanthocephala
  • Larval Cestodes
  • Intestinal Nematodes
  • Tissue Nematodes

Course satisfies Departmental Learning Goals 

1. Master factual and conceptual knowledge in cell biology and neuroscience that will provide a solid foundation for success in advanced training and professional careers.
